It is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to ESOI Touchdown 2026, taking place from October 29–31, 2026, in Heidelberg.

Hosted at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the meeting will be held at one of the world’s leading centres for cancer research and medical innovation. Together with Heidelberg University and Heidelberg University Hospital, the DKFZ forms a unique scientific environment in which basic research, technological development, and clinical translation are closely integrated. Heidelberg therefore provides an ideal setting in which to discuss current advances in oncologic imaging and generate new ideas for research and patient care.

The meeting will bring together radiologists, clinicians, scientists, patient representatives, and industry partners. The scientific programme will address key topics including artificial intelligence, innovative imaging strategies, multidisciplinary decision-making across a broad range of cancer entities, cancer screening, treatment-related toxicities, and the future of oncologic reporting.

Interactive workshops and multidisciplinary case discussions will offer practical insights and encourage lively exchange across disciplines and national borders. Beyond the scientific sessions, ESOI Touchdown 2026 will provide many opportunities to strengthen existing collaborations, establish new partnerships, and jointly shape the future of oncologic imaging.

Heidelberg itself will contribute to the special character of the meeting. The city combines more than 600 years of university tradition with international scientific excellence, innovation, and historic charm. Its picturesque Old Town, renowned castle, and beautiful setting on the River Neckar make Heidelberg an inspiring place for scientific and personal exchange.
